TofuXpress Love!

I am completely in love with a certain inanimate object.

As odd as that is to say, it is the complete truth.

No, it is NOT a item I picked up from a ADULT XXX store.

TOFU XPRESS I LOVE YOU IN WAYS A HUMAN SHOULD NOT LOVE PLASTIC!!

LOOK WHAT IT DID!!!!!!!!!!! I was overly fascinated by it when I first received it. Granted, I have had the press for a few months and it has by far been my most used kitchen item….minus my junky blender.

Above are the fixin’s for the soup that I made last night, but that will have to wait for another post.

Okay, so onto my review of this miracle machinery….

As far as I am concerned, the TofuXpress si something that every vegan/vegetarian/tofu lover should own. I have spent many years doing the ole pans and towel trick and that produced NOTHING compared to this. The inventor definitely had the right idea in mind when she invented this thing. Can we give her some sort of award for MOST AMAZING ADDITION TO A VEG KITCHEN?

The only downfall I see is when it comes to marinading the tofu with the press part attached. Pressing the flavor into the tofu didn’t really work out well for me, not to mention the insane mess i had to clean up after. I’m a stickler for oil. If there is a oily residue on any of my dishes, I freak and scrub until the dishes squeak. The fella calls me crazy. After using the tofu marinade from Veganomicon (which has quickly become my favorite of all time), I realized that the press was not idea for me to use for marinading.

This post is way too erratic and sounds like i have my lips pressed firmly on the companies ass. Not true. I’m just in love with it and a post was LONG over due. I was only inspired to post it now because I used it last night for a soup/stew and since i had pressed the tofu, as soon as I added it into my pot it sucked the liquid right up. This made the tofu achieve perfection status.

And as I said, the soup post will be later.

🙂

  1. I really really really really really really REALLY want one of the presses but their international shipping fees suck big time and I refuse to pay as much as they want me to to send some plastic over to England… Very jealous of you and everyone else who has one though, maybe one day there will be another way to buy one besides their website…

    1. I know they are working on having distributors, not sure if they will overseas. Perhaps e-mail them? That stinks it’s so expensive. I seriously LOVE this thing.

  2. This items is totally on my birthday wish list! I haven’t been able to find one around here, so I’m hoping one of my friends is willing to order one for my present. 🙂 BTW, I posted about my care package yesterday on the blog….it’s after the roasted okra post. Yours should be in today or tomorrow. When I mailed on Monday, they said 2-3 days.

    1. You can only order them offline for now, sadly. I contacted them about retail since I couldn’t find them either. AND I’M PATIENTLY WAITING FOR MY PACKAGE! Scratch that, IMPATIENTLY!

  3. I recently got mine as well but haven’t been able to use it yet. AAAAAAhhhhh! You make me want to use it RIGHT NOW but I’ve got to run! Now I think I’m just going to make up a project for the weekend just so I can use it! lol

      1. No, I still haven’t used it but for good reason. I’m learning to make my own almond milk and then almond tofu (soy is high in estrogen and its effecting my migraines a wee bit too much). Unfortunately while in the mists of learning to make the milk, I had a roommate move in who doesn’t truly appreciate healthy food but eats it because its there… makes me far FAR less inclined to make my food from scratch only to find it missing before I get a chance to try it. But the moment he’s gone (as this is all VERY temporary) I’ll be pressing my little heart out… er… that didn’t sound right but you know what I mean. lol
